William L. "Bill" McIntosh, 92, of Cleghorn, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2024 surrounded by his family at Careage Hills Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at the Cleghorn Presbyterian Church in Cleghorn, Iowa. Don Tisthammer will officiate. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 8, 2024 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. with the family present from 5-7:00 p.m. at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery at Meriden, Iowa. Military rites will be performed by L.A. Wescott Post #2253 and the Cherokee American Legion. Online condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com.
Bill was born on August 28, 1931 to William and Agnes (Resene) McIntosh at Cleghorn, Iowa. He attended Cleghorn Schools, graduating in 1949. He enlisted in the United States Army and served from 1952 to 1954.
Bill was united in marriage on July 10, 1957 to Mary Hamman at Cleghorn, Iowa.
He worked as a seed corn salesman, school bus driver, and a rural mail carrier until his retirement in 1994.
He was an elder and member of the Cleghorn Presbyterian Church. Bill was also a member of the Cleghorn American Legion.
Bill loved the St. Louis Cardinals and Iowa Hawkeyes. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, attending all sporting events and he cherished time spent with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and four sisters.
Bill will lovingly be remembered by his wife, Mary of Cleghorn, Iowa; three children, Ann (Jim) Robinson of Cherokee, Iowa, Brent (Brenda) McIntosh of Phoenix, Arizona, and Sue (Dave) Schneider of LeMars, Iowa; 8 grandchildren, Dan (Anne) Robinson, Beth (Todd) Oehlerking, Sara (Mike) Dosen, Katie (Jim) Leonard, Jake (Megan) Schneider, Logan (Shelby) Schneider, Brady (Sara Webb) McIntosh, and Erin (Katrina) McIntosh; 11 great grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews.
