William Austin McLain, Jr., passed away on January 31, 2024 at Tift Regional Medical Center. He was born on May 29, 1964, in Albany, Georgia to Sara Scarborough McLain and the late William Austin McLain, Sr. With a warm and caring heart, he brought joy to his family and friends throughout his life.
William grew up in Tifton and attended Tift County High School, graduating in 1982. He was drawn to the agricultural industry where he pursued a career as a Pecan Farm Manager at RSR Farms in Ashburn. Beyond his professional pursuits, William had a deep sense of devotion to his family. He found great joy in taking care of his beloved mother, Sara.
One can never forget the special bond between William and his cherished dog, Sophie. They were inseparable companions who shared many happy memories together. Sophie brought immense happiness to William's life with her loyalty and unconditional love.
In his earlier years, William had a passion for sports. As a young adult, he enjoyed playing basketball and softball. However, it was on the golf course where he truly thrived. Golf provided him with relaxation and allowed him to connect with friends while enjoying the outdoors.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 3, 2024 in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with Rev. Stacy Phillips officiating. Interment will follow at Oakridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. at the funeral home before the service.
Bob Rippy, Nick McClellan, Brad Moretz, and the men of Northside Baptist Church of Tifton will serve as pallbearers.
William is survived by his mother, Sara Scarborough McLain, his brother and sister-in-law Bryan and Carmen McLain, his nieces Carley McLain and Bailey McLain bought light into his life and he will forever remain in their hearts.
