William McNicholas Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Curley Funeral Home - Chicago Ridge on Feb. 2, 2026.
William P. McNicholas, a lifelong resident of Chicago, a man who devoted his life to hard work and a family of many generations, passed away on January 30th, 2026 at the age of 93.

He spent his grammar school years attending Visitation in the back of the yards neighborhood and was a proud graduate of DeLaSalle High School before becoming a CPS Stationary Engineer, Local 399. During his life, he owned several establishments: The Beverly Lounge, The Foaming 60s, and South Holland Bowling Lanes from 1967 to 2004.

Bill spent a great portion of his life in the Northwoods and introduced its unique nature to his growing family. The time he spent there was often on the water, fishing alongside his wife and children. He was also an avid bowler who cherished the friendships that were formed during those years. He was also a long time member of Gleneagles Men's Club. He was a fierce competitor, but loved the comradery on the course. During his time at Gleneagles, he only won 3 green jackets.

Bill was preceded in death by his father, Patrick, mother, Ella (Coggins), his beloved wife, Margaret (O'Connor), his sons, Daniel, James, and Michael, his in-laws, Daniel and Bridget O'Connor, as well as John Heron and Arlene O'Connor. He is survived by his daughter, Ann (and Bill) McGann and son Tim (and Jill) McNicholas. His family blessed him with 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Curley Funeral Home (located at 6116 W. 111th St. Chicago Ridge, IL 60415) on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 from 3:00-8:00 p.m., Funeral will be on Thursday, February 5th with services beginning at 10:00 a.m. from Curley Funeral Home to St. Cajetan Church, 112th St. & Artesian Ave., Chicago, IL Mass 11:00 a.m.; Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
