Jim Mealey, 70, of Ankeny passed away March 26, 2018. Jim was born and raised in Des Moines. He graduated from Southeast Polk high school where he was an all-star athlete, best known for football. He married his former wife, Glenda, and they moved to Collins where he raised his two sons, Jim and John. Throughout his life, Jim was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Jim was also a motorcycle enthusiast, logging tens of thousands of miles in all weather. For all of his life, Jim demonstrated a tireless work ethic, working multiple jobs at times and also running his own business. Notably, Jim worked at 3E Electrical for over thirty years, predominantly as a welder and then in various capacities until the time of his death, having never considered retirement. Jim is survived by his two sons Jim (his wife Andrea and their children, Lauren and Colin of Massachusetts) and John (his wife Jodi) of Pleasant Hill, his former wife Glenda Scalf of Neveda, his mother Shirley Kay Mealey of Des Moines, and his brothers Roger Mealey of Des Moines, Don Mealey of Norwalk, and Mike Mealey of North Carolina. Jim was preceded in death by his father, Harold and a sister, Karen.
