BEVERLY

William John "Jack" Meili, 94, passed away Friday, March 27, 2026 in Wichita, KS. He was born February 1, 1932 in the family home in Beverly, KS to John R. and Esther (Miller) Meili. He graduated from Beverly High School in 1950. Jack served his country in the United States Army and was stationed in Korea from 1954-1955. Upon his discharge, he attended U.S Trade School in Kansas City Missouri and subsequently returned to Beverly where he was the owner and operator of Meili Garage and Radiator repair for many years. Jack was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Jack married Lavon C. Meier at St. Paul Lutheran Church near Westfall, KS on May 18, 1958. Jack was a long time member of the church. Jack was also active in his community serving as a volunteer fireman and received an award for his longtime service to the Beverly-Westfall Rural Fire Department. Jack served several terms as Mayor and city council for the City of Beverly, and supported local water and sanitary sewer infrastructure both by championing projects and helping to maintain and operate these city utilities.

Jack is survived by his wife Lavon of Beverly; daughter Marsha Meili of Wichita, KS; son Mark Meili (Lisa) of Cincinnati, OH; grandchildren, Alan and Julie Meili; brother-in-law Steven Meier (Pam); as well as two nieces, two nephews, one great niece, one great nephew, two great-great nieces, and one cousin. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mary Jane Day and husband Wilborn and Barbara Smith and husband Charles; and one nephew.

Visitation: 1-7 p.m, April 10, 2026 at Parsons Funeral Home – Hall Chapel in Lincoln, KS with family present to greet visitors 5-7 p.m.

Funeral service: 11:00 a.m, April 11, 2026 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Westfall with burial following in the church cemetery.
