William Ray Miller, 85, of Hertford, NC, passed away Saturday, August 9, 2025, in Edenton Primetime.
Mr. Miller was born in Perquimans County on May 12, 1940, and was the son of the late Kenneth Winslow Miller, Sr. and Delsie Pierce Miller. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Glennie Myers Miller, and by a brother, Archie Winslow Miller, Sr.
A lifelong farmer, for many years he had co-owned and operated Miller’s Livestock. A member of Cedar Grove Church, he had served on the Winfall Town Council and was a past member of both the Winfall Volunteer Fire Department and Parksville Ruritan Club.
Surviving are his three sons, Ken Miller and wife, Terry, of Powells Point, Scott Miller, and Tony Miller and wife, Melissa, both of Hertford; a sister, Gloria Miller Deal of Elizabeth City; three grandchildren, Alyssa Polumbo and husband, Dean, Brad Miller, and Maylin Miller; two step-granddaughters, Jordan Campbell and husband, Kevin, and Jenna Dail; and five great-grandchildren, Bryleigh Walters, Liam, Nolan, and Teagan Miller, and Lane Polumbo.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. in Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford and will be conducted by the Rev. Wayne Wood. A private burial will be in Cedarwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home immediately following the chapel service.
