William Anderson Mills

William Anderson Mills, born on October 16, 1948, in Slab Fork, West Virginia, passed away on December 15, 2025, in Newport News, Virginia, at the age of 77.

William dedicated 20 years of his life to serving his country in the United States Army, after which he retired and continued his commitment to public service through a career in the civil service. His dedication to his work and community was evident throughout his life.

A man of varied interests, William found joy in the great outdoors, spending many hours fishing and hunting. He was also an avid racquetball player and enjoyed bowling. Above all, he cherished the time spent with his beloved grandchildren and his grand-dog, Boomer.

William was a devoted member and volunteer at the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter 13 in Yorktown, Virginia, where he contributed his time and efforts to support fellow veterans.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Montgomery and Ruth Blevins Mills; his son, Robert Mills; his sister, Connie Mills; and his brother, Warren Mills.

William is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Hen Mills; his son, David Mills; his daughter, Marsha Setzer and her husband Willis; his brother, Curtis Mills; and his sister, Trudy Smith. He leaves behind cherished memories with his grandchildren, Jacob Setzer, Cooper Setzer, Cameron Mills, and Hailey Battle, as well as his great-grandchildren, Alina Battle and Sophia Battle.

A memorial service to honor William's life will be held at a later date. His family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of a man who was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
