William Jimmy Murphy, age 83, passed away on October 2, 2025, in Thomasville, GA. Jimmy was born in Thomasville, GA, on July 9, 1942, to the late Reid and Grace Murphy. He graduated from Central High School in 1960 and was a faithful member of Coolidge Baptist Church.
In 1969, he opened Murphy Plumbing, a successful business he operated until his retirement in 2019. Jimmy was known for his dedication to his work and his active involvement in the community, being a longtime resident of Thomas County. He was preceded in death by his wife of 26 years, Kathy Murphy.
Jimmy is survived by his children: Kirk Murphy (Tammy) of Thomasville, Chad Murphy (Jamie) of Kennesaw, GA, Kim Parrish (Ben) of Ball Ground, GA, and stepchildren Shelly Barry (David) of Valdosta and Shane Rehberg (Nicole) of Rome, GA. He also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, including Nick Murphy (Madison), April Hataway (Chris), Connor Murphy, Maggie Contreras (Carson), Joseph Parrish, Daniel Parrish, Ryan Parrish, Mary Toth, Evie Toth, Luke Rehberg, and Harper Rehberg, as well as eight great-grandchildren. Additionally, he is survived by his brother, Nathan Murphy. Jimmy was also preceded in death by his brother, David Murphy.
Services will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at The Connection Assembly at 11 AM, with Reverend Mike Keown officiating. Jimmy will be laid to rest at Big Creek Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Monday, October 6, 2025, from 5 to 7 PM at Allen and Allen Funeral Home's Celebration of Life Chapel. Pallbearers will include Bill Blackburn, Carl Weckwert, Mallory Parker, Ricky Thedford, Tommy Barrow, Claude Davis, Carlton Powell and Bob Emmett.
