AKRON – William Estill Nesbitt, 73, passed away on March 22, 2023, after a brief illness. He was born November 5, 1949, in Frankfort, Kentucky, and most of his life he lived in Akron, Ohio. William graduated from John R. Buchtel High School in 1967 and graduated from The University of Akron with a B.S. degree in Education in 1971. William was a music teacher for the Akron Public School System upon graduating from The University of Akron, and for the Cleveland Public Schools. After leaving the teaching field, William worked for the Akron Beacon Journal for a number of years. He was the church pianist and organist for Saint Phillips Church in Akron, Ohio; and also played the piano and organ for Our Lady of Victory Church in Tallmadge, Ohio.
William ran track and was on the cross-country team for John R. Buchtel High School. William loved everything about music. He loved playing music, recording, composing, and accompanying. He sold music, pianos, and violins at the former Cuyahoga Falls Music Center.
Preceded in death by his parents William and Ida Mae Nesbitt, he is survived by loving brother Wayne Nesbitt (Akron, OH); devoted cousins James (Jim) Berry, Jr.; Mrs. Geneva Sheppard; Shirley Sheppard Stafford; Cousin Jean of Atlanta, Georgia; and many other cousins; good friend Kim Johnson; childhood friends the Strickland brothers; and friends of the congregation of Saint Phillips Church.
