William Warren Netz, "Bill" to all who knew him, born on September 4, 1938, in Minneapolis, MN, passed away peacefully at his Flat Rock, NC home on August 27, 2025, at the age of 86.
Mr. Netz led a distinguished life marked by dedication to his family, career, and community. He served honorably in the United States Air Force from 1956 to 1960, achieving the rank of Sergeant before continuing his service in the reserves for an additional two years.
Following his military service, William embarked on a successful 30-year career with Rapistan Conveyors, his career culminating as the Midwest Regional Manager. His professional achievements were complemented by a passion for the outdoors. In his youth, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he later embarked on numerous fly-in fishing trips to Canada and Alaska.
In retirement, William and his beloved wife of 62 years, Shirley, traveled extensively throughout Europe, Asia, and the Americas, creating cherished memories together. However, the highlights of every year were family reunions in Minnesota and special trips throughout the Southeast with their grandsons. A devout member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, William was a man of faith and integrity.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; his parents, Harold and Rosetta; his brothers, Richard and David; his son, Jeffery; his sister-in-law, Louise Buchanan; and his brother-in-law, John Skeffington.
William is survived by his sons, Chris Netz of Flat Rock, NC, and Robert (Amy) Netz of Grayslake, IL; his grandchildren, Trevor Netz and Nicholas Netz, both of Grayslake, IL; his sisters, Barbara Skeffington of Mountain Home, AR, and Virginia (Doug) Nimmo of Plymouth, MN; his brother-in-law, Charles Buchanan of Gastonia, NC; and his sisters-in-law, Marija Netz of Blaine, MN, and Barbara Netz of Shakopee, MN. He is also fondly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews.
Throughout his life, William called many places home, including Coppell, TX; Lisle, IL; Eagan, MN; Brooklyn Center, MN; Maple Plain, MN; and his birthplace, Minneapolis, MN.
Services for Mr. Netz are being planned and will be announced at a later date. His legacy of love, adventure, and commitment will be cherished by all who knew him.
