William Newton Obituary
You could have visited tennis courts or lakeshores to find Bill hitting flawless backhands or patiently angling for a bass. You could have seen him stretched out in a recliner, napping on a quiet afternoon.
You could have spotted Bill in his collection of photographs spanning the globe. He and his wife, Linda, were insatiable explorers - visiting every continent, legions of small Midwestern towns and countless points of interest between.
You could have found Bill expanding his stamp collection or diving deeper into his genealogy, watching spaghetti Westerns or devouring historical biographies. You could have seen him driving fast cars or cruising on a motorcycle through the October roads of Brown County.
You could have heard Bill shuffling cards for a game of euchre or telling stories and eating ice cream with his grandkids, laughing at videos of their dogs and their friends and their escapades.
You could have glimpsed Bill in prayer at Castleton United Methodist Church, home of his strong faith community and belief in doing as much good as possible in his life.
But you won't find him in those places today. Bill was a great friend, a cherished husband and father and brother and uncle and grandfather. He lived a life that we all admire. He passed away at home, encircled by the love of his family.
Bill's legacy includes 62 years of marriage, three children, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He bequeathed his body to the IU Anatomical Education program. Memorial gifts can be sent to the Indiana University School of Medicine to support the Anatomical Education program, payable and mailed to IU Foundation, P.O. Box 7072, Indianapolis, IN 46207-7072. Please indicate "In memory of Bill Newton" on the gift.
Memorial service at Castleton United Methodist Church, Monday 15 July, 4:00.
