William "Bill" H. Osier
Pinconning, MichiganWilliam "Bill" H. Osier, a cherished uncle, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2025, at Brittany Manor in Midland, Michigan. Born on November 17, 1933, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Chestly H. and Ruth (Danforth) Osier, Bill's jovial spirit and creative flair touched the lives of many throughout his 91 years.
Bill's early years in Detroit laid a strong foundation for a life characterized by hard work, dedication, and love of country. Bill served in the U.S. Army as a MP stationed in Berlin during enlistment. He followed in the footsteps of the industrious city and became a skilled millwright, working at several tool and die shops where his precision and craftsmanship were highly valued.
A man of many interests, Bill's love for sports was unparalleled. He was an avid hockey fan, holding season tickets for the Saginaw Spirit Hockey team and never missing an opportunity to cheer on the Detroit Red Wings. His enthusiasm for the game was infectious, and he could often be found recounting the highlights of the latest match to anyone who would listen. Many weekends one could find Bill watching college and pro football, cheering on the Spartans, Wolverines and Lions.
As well as hunting and fishing, and his beloved dogs, Bill's hobbies extended to the pool halls where he was a formidable opponent in shooting pool, and to the comfort of his living room where he enjoyed watching westerns, with John Wayne movies being a particular favorite. His creative side was evident in the way he approached life, always finding unique solutions to problems.
Described by those who knew him best as funny, creative, and handy, his knack for inventing and fixing things, and his readiness to lend a helping hand were qualities that endeared him to many. His presence brought light and laughter to any gathering, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Bill was preceded in death by his brother Chestly (Sr.) (Donna), and his sister, Florence Carnahan. He is survived by his nephews and nieces, Brian, Bradley, Diane, Bobby, Chet {Carol) Osier, Jim Osier, John {Lloya), David {Michelle) Osier, Dan (Cathy) Osier and their children. Each of them will carry forward the memory of his spirited anecdotes, and the warmth of his smile.
