William Shane Owens, 49, of Columbus, Georgia, passed away on August 8, 2025, in his hometown.

Born on October 9, 1975, in Columbus, Shane lived a life rooted in family, hard work, and simple joys. Shane was a dedicated construction worker whose strong work ethic and skill left a lasting mark on every project he touched. Outside of work, he found happiness in the things he loved most-cheering on Auburn football, following NASCAR, and perfecting his craft as a master of the grill. He also loved music-especially playing it loud enough so that all the surrounding neighbors could enjoy it too. His barbecue and his music often went hand-in-hand, turning ordinary days into memorable gatherings.

Shane's greatest pride was his family. He was also the one his mother could always call when something was lost-no matter how well it was hidden, Shane would find it.

He is survived by his wife, Dee Owens; his children, Tyler Owens(Brittny) and Meadow Owens; his mother, Sandra Owens; his brother, Brooke Owens(Sonya); their son and daughter, Cason Owens and Taylor Owens along with his nephew Caleb Owens. He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Owens, and his brother, Todd Owens, his niece Carlee Owens as well as his maternal grandparents, R. J. and Addie Brookins, and paternal grandparents, Fred and Hettie Owens.
