William Edward (Jack) Oxford passed away on October 2nd, 2025. Born on June 8th, 1930, in Rutledge, Morgan County, Georgia, Jack was the beloved son of Lamar Oxford and Sallie Mae McCue Oxford.
Jack graduated from North Georgia College in 1951 with a degree in Biology. Following his academic achievements, he honorably served his country as a Korean War veteran. During his four years in the Army Security Agency, Jack worked as a cryptographer.
Jack was passionate about hunting, fishing, and gardening. His dedication to his community was evident through his roles as Secretary of the first Planning Commission in Morgan County and as President of the Madison Kiwanis Club.
Jack served as Executive Vice President of the Bank of Rutledge for 37 years, retiring in 1995. His commitment and leadership left a lasting impact on the institution and those he worked with.
Jack is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carol; two children, Michael McMahon of Good Hope, Georgia, and Pamela Clements of Cumming, Georgia; as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Memorial ContributionsIn lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the University of North Georgia College, 82 College Circle, Dahlonega, Georgia 30597.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 2 PM at Lake Oconee Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow at the Rutledge City Cemetery.
