William Palmer Obituary
William Alfred "Bill" Palmer, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and veteran, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2025, in his hometown of Portsmouth, Virginia. Born on August 25, 1961, in Portsmouth, he lived a full and vibrant life, reaching the age of 64.
William served his country honorably as a member of the United States Navy, where he developed a deep sense of duty and camaraderie that he carried throughout his life. Following his military service, he dedicated many years to his career as a Project Manager at Marine Hydraulics International, where he was known for his leadership, integrity, and commitment to excellence.
Outside of his professional life, William found joy in riding his Harley and cherished every moment spent with his beloved family. His love for the open road was only surpassed by his devotion to those he held dear.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Virginia A. White Palmer and Clifford R. Palmer, I; his daughters, Shannon Palmer and Rebecca Palmer; his stepson, Billy Liskey; his brother, Frank Palmer; and his sister-in-law, Shelby Kay Rock.
Bill leaves behind a loving family who will forever hold him in their hearts: his devoted wife, Jean E. Palmer of Portsmouth, VA; his sisters, Suzy Winslow (Brad) of Hadley, NY, Marsha Benjamin (Paul) of Cartersville, GA, Ellen McGinnis (James) of Cornville, AZ, Juanita Dowdy (Charles) of Smithfield, VA, and Kathy Imbimbo of Smithfield, VA; his brothers, Keith Palmer (Cathy) of Pearland, TX, and Randy Palmer of Suffolk, VA; and his cherished grandchildren, Brelan Liskey (Jennifer Darrigo-Golz), Jayden Liskey, and Destiny Liskey, all of Portsmouth, VA.
A service to honor William's life and legacy will be held at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, VA with military honors on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at 12 noon. The Cremation Society of Virginia, Chesapeake Office, is assisting the family during this time of need. Friends and family are invited to share online condolences at www.vacremationsociety.com.
