William Parthie Sr. Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Thielen Funeral Home - MARINETTE on Aug. 11, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

William "Bill" Parthie, Sr., age 90, passed away August 8, 2025, in Peshtigo, Wisconsin. He was born October 19, 1934, to the late Edith R. (LaLonde) and Fred Parthie, in Marinette, Wisconsin.

Bill attended high school in Marinette and later returned to further his education by earning an associate's degree from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC). Bill married his wife Terry H. Manderfield, October 18, 1958, who together lived a long married life, of 61 years, until Bill lost his wife in 2019 after illness.

Bill dedicated over three decades of his life to Marinette Marine Shipbuilding, where he worked his way to shipbuilding supervisor. Bill had the honor of witnessing vessel launches over the course of his career. Bill's strong work ethic and commitment were evident to all who collaborated with him.

A man of many interests and talents, Bill found joy in the outdoors and in the company of others. He enjoyed golfing, boating, fishing, bowling, playing cards, cribbage, and participating in the local pool league. Over the years Bill was also a member of the Moose Lodge, the Jaycees, and Knights of Columbus.

His love for nature and camaraderie made him a familiar face wherever people gathered to enjoy life's simple pleasures.

Bill was known for his warm personality, kind-heartedness, and for his sense of humor that brought smiles to those around him. A true family man at heart, he cherished time spent with loved ones and built a legacy rooted in connection and care.

He was a member of Holy Family Church. Bill, along with his wife Terry, were involved with the local community and had a special place in caring for the elderly. Bill had battled Parkinson's for 30 years of his life, otherwise he was an extraordinarily strong, healthy person.

Bill is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Terri (Jeff) Thompson, (Marinette, WI), and Mary (Charles) Miller (Green Bay, WI), his son, William Jr. (Diana) Parthie (Marinette, WI); granddaughters: Aislinn (Brian) Austin of North Chicago, IL; Alexandra (Jake) Becke of Wausau, WI; and Samantha (Matthias) Breen-Lyles of Winter Park, FL, and great-grandson, Corbin Austin.

He is also survived by his brother, Gerald (Jackie) Parthie of Wallace, MI; sister-in-law, Margaret (Mike) Strenski of De Pere, WI; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Terri H. Parthie in 2019; brothers: Carl, Kenneth, and Fred Parthie; sister, Helen Parthie; and parents, Fred Sr. and Edith Parthie, two sister's -in-laws, Susan (Meicht), and Mary Ruth (Legault).

A special thank you to the loving staff at Rennes West and Unity Hospice.

May Bill's memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire kindness and laughter in their lives. Visitation will be held Saturday, August 16, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Thielen Funeral Home, 1403 Newberry Ave, Marinette, WI. A Funeral Service will be held at Noon.

In lieu of flowers, the family has set up a memorial fund.
