William M. Pearson died October 1, 2025, at the age of 85.
Bill was a native of Fairmont, WV. He graduated from East Fairmont High School in 1957. He joined the USAF in February 1958 and moved quickly up the enlisted ranks, retiring in 1978 as a Senior Master Sergeant, Aerospace Physiology Superintendent at Brooks AFB, TX.
While in the USAF, Bill began a second career as a pilot. He achieved his advanced pilot and instructor licenses through USAF Aero Clubs and Civilian Flight Schools. After he retired, Bill enjoyed a second career in professional aviation, beginning with flight instructing, then a 2-year airline stint, followed by 32 years as Chief Pilot for Tom Benson, flying many different corporate jet aircraft for Benson's varied enterprises, including the New Orleans Saints.
He retired from his NFL pilot job in 2009 to take care of his ailing wife, Linda, and spend more time with family. After Linda passed, Bill was blessed with a second love of his life, Carol Ann Carlyon. Bill and Carol married in 2015, enjoying a wonderful, vibrant couple's life until his death.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Pearson, and his younger brother, Ronald Pearson.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Ann Pearson; son Glen (Janette); son Mike (Denise); grandsons Shane and Christopher (Abbi); granddaughters Kayla and Brooke; numerous great-grandchildren; and many loved and valued friends.
Bill will be cremated with inurnment at Fort Sam National Cemetery in a private family only service.
