William Burr Peck, age 96, passed away at home peacefully on Thursday, March 20, 2025 after a short illness. He was a long-time resident of Wallingford, Pennsylvania and most recently of Garnet Valley, PA.
Bill was a devoted husband and a wonderful father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Born June 3, 1928 in New Milford, Connecticut, he was the son of the late Howard H. and the late Mildred (Bennett) Peck, and the youngest brother of the late Mary Stone and the late John Peck. After graduating from New Milford High School in June of 1945, he attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York, graduating with a BS in Aeronautical Engineering in December 1948. He began his professional life as a structural engineer in 1949 at Piasecki Aircraft in Morton, PA which ultimately became Boeing Helicopter Company in Ridley Park, PA. Bill enjoyed a distinguished career in a variety of different rotorcraft programs culminating as a high-level executive and a driving force on the revolutionary V22 Osprey tiltrotor program. He was a lifetime member of the American Helicopter Society. After an accomplished 38 year tenure working his entire career for Boeing, Bill retired in 1987.
As a longtime resident of Wallingford, Pennsylvania, Bill's community efforts included serving on Wallingford-Swarthmore School District's School Board, serving as a Nether Providence Township Commissioner, and Chaired the Helen Kate Furness Free Library's 2000 renovation project. Over the last 15 years Bill was very active with the ACCESS Chester Community Center meal program. In 2023 Bill provided over 7,000 hand cooked meals for locals facing food insecurity, and in 2024 Bill topped that by providing over 8,700 meals to the program.
Bill enjoyed playing many sports including high school football, tennis, ice skating and golf. He enjoyed many years engaged in gardening, woodworking, and hunting, and he was a voracious reader. He passed all of these interests onto his children.
He is predeceased by his first wife, Dolores Brady, and his second wife, Margaret Whelan. He is survived by his six children: Kevin Peck and wife Ginny Peck of Lincoln University, PA, John Peck and wife Lisa Peck of Garnet Valley, PA, Matthew Peck (late wife Chrystine Peck) of Garnet Valley, PA, Ann "Nancy" Peck and husband John McInroy of Laramie, WY, William Peck (Kim Cermak) and wife Angela Peck of Phoenixville, PA, and Mark Peck and wife Amy Nolan-Peck of Annapolis, MD.
