William Powers, Jr. Obituary
William F. Powers, Jr., 79, of New Bedford passed away Wednesday December 17, 2025.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late William F. and Beatrice (Paine) Powers, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
William retired from Brittany Dyeing and Printing after 30 years of service. In retirement, he worked part-time for Tremblay Bus Company for the past 10 years.
William was a loving father and grandfather and he always put his family first. He was kind and funny to everyone he would meet. He always loved to strike up conversations with everyone. When he was in good health, he loved fishing and spending time with his family. He was always a hard worker all of his life.
He is survived by his children, Thomas Powers and Tammy Powers; his wife, Rosemary Roley-Powers, his grandchildren, Justine Powers, Thomas Powers, Jr., Destinie Bernardo, and Tyvonn Pulliam; and his great-grandchildren, Zariah Pajunen and Braylee Powers.
He was predeceased by his sisters, Betty DeMello and Ruth Anne Arruda.
His funeral service will be held on Monday December 29th at 11 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Sunday December 28th from 2-5 PM.
