William Hugh Ratcliffe

William Hugh "Mack" Ratcliffe, 77, of Cynthiana, Kentucky, passed away on November 9, 2025. Mack was born on October 10, 1948, in Bedford, Indiana to the late Taffie Jean Parsley and Ed Ratcliffe.

Mack lived many lives. At various times, he was a maintenance man, service station owner, antique dealer, and ran cattle farms. But most of all, he loved horses. He spent many years as a jockey, owner, and trainer in the horse racing industry, where he was known for his easygoing personality, dry sense of humor, and his willingness to help others in need. He will be remembered for his kindness, warmth, and generosity.

Above all, Mack was devoted to his family. He was a proud father and a loving grandfather who cherished time spent with his son Shane (Allison) Ratcliffe, his daughter Ellie Ratcliffe (Ari Gao), and his beloved grandchildren, Lottie, Lila, and Leo Ratcliffe. Mack was an animal lover and leaves behind his faithful canine companion, Joie. Other surviving loved ones include his siblings Barbarba (Ron) Long, Mary White, Kay (Jim) Bruton, and Eddie (Tink) Ratcliffe, many nieces and nephews, and the mother of his children, Rebecca Hutchins.

The family will honor Mack's life with a private celebration in Missouri at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to either the Harrison County Humane Society (KY) or the Humane Society of Southwest Missouri (MO).
