Obituary William Fredrick Reddick

WILLAM FREDRICK REDDICK was born on March 24, 1942, in Little Washington, North Carolina to Samuel and Phalia Reddick. He attended Beaufort County Schools, where he completed the 9th grade level. He left North Carolina and moved to Brooklyn New York in the late 50's, where he worked in the morgue and then became a security guard at Kings County Hospital. WILLIAM loved nice cars and nice clothes, people would often say how good he smelled, always dressed sharp, and how clean shaved he was.

In 1964 he met Marilyn V. Ramsey at the L& M Restaurant located in Brooklyn, where he would go for his daily lunch breaks. From their union he fathered his oldest daughter Sheila and his only son LaMonte. In 1967 while working at Kings County he met Roberta W. Ingram, they were married in 1973; and from their union he fathered 4 daughters; Tokovia, Roshonda, Wilanu & Kaity. WILLIAM loved his family, and he loved the Lord and had a unique praise; he enjoyed playing the drums and the wash board in church.

In the early 70's he started working for Flying Tigers Cargo Airlines where he would remain, before moving to Los Angeles, California where he started working as a Merchant Seaman/Chef on commercial ships. After retiring he moved back to North Carolina to be closer to his children and grandchildren. He lived a hard life but would live the rest of his years, rebuilding relationships with his family. In 2009 he started a very peaceful life at Robinwood Retirement Community, where he made many close friends, who always looked after him.

In 2011 he was diagnosed with a rare form of Cancer in his small intestines, after chemo/radiation treatments it went in remission. In 2019 he was diagnosed with Parkinson Dementia. During the course of 4 years, he would be hospitalized frequently and his health declined significantly. WILLIAM passed away peacefully on May 23 rd @12:06am at the hospice house in Smithfield, NC.

WILLIAM was preceded in death by his parents Samuel and Phalia; as well as seven siblings: Roxanna, James, Betty, Robert, Carolyn, Henry and Bobby.

WILLIAM REDDICK leaves to cherish his memory to 6 children: Shelia, LaMonte (Heather), Tokovia (James), Roshonda (Eugene), Wilanu "MeMe" (Donald) & Kaity (Bravette); 19 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
