William Kent Richards, 74, of Genoa, Ohio, passed away Saturday December 20, 2025. He was born in 1951, the son of John W. Richards and Eleanor Hanely Richards. A life-long resident of Genoa, he attended the University of Cincinnati, and graduated from the University of Toledo. He served in the Marine Corps. He attained the rank of Eagle Scout, and remained active in the Boy Scouts as an adult, especially enjoying the Boy Scout's outings at Put-in-Bay, celebrating the Battle of Lake Erie.
Mr. Richards was an avid reader, and enjoyed cooking and hiking. He was a life-long member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Genoa, and was blessed with a wonderful church family.
He was predeceased by his parents and sister, Nancy Richards Bedsole (Steve). He is survived by two sisters, Marcia Richards Payne (George) and Susan Richards Alt; and a cousin, Lynn Updegraff Moore (Douglas). He has numerous nieces and nephews: Frederick Payne (Karyn), John Payne (Anelise), Samuel Bedsole, Staci Bedsole Treece (Josh), Benjamin Alt (April), James Alt (Whitney), and Katherine Alt; along with several great nieces and nephews.
There will be a Celebration of Life at Trinity United Methodist Church, 313 Main Street, Genoa, Ohio, Saturday, December 27, 2025 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Trinity United Methodist Church or the Genoa Branch Library.
Bill will be remembered as a dedicated son, a loyal brother, a doting uncle and a good friend.
