William James Bill Riffle, age 84, died on August 27, 2022 surrounded by family in his home in Morgantown, WV. Bill is survived by his siblings, Edwin Riffle, Jr. (Mary), Jack Riffle (Sandy), and Inez Riffle Stump; his sons, Jeff Riffle (Joyce) and Stacy Riffle (Kerry); his 7 grandchildren, Ashley Ramsden (Josh), Madison Stout (Alex), Cheyenne Hill (Brandon), Amber Underwood (Tyler), Sierra Riffle (D Andra Swiger), Hunter Riffle (Taylor Gribble), and Sakoya Ellison (Tyler); and his 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin Blaine Riffle, Sr. and Leona Marie Dixon Riffle; one sister, Donna Riffle; and his wife of 50 years, Karen Lee Rusty Harrison Riffle.
Bill was born on November 22, 1937 in Morgantown, WV to Edwin and Leona Riffle. He graduated from University High School in 1957, after which he worked for the WVU School of Medicine until he retired. Bill was a social and active man who was deeply involved in I.O.O.F. #10, Scouting, and the Lion s Club for many years. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, and cooking. His family and friends will always remember him as a joyful, loving person.
A memorial service will be scheduled for a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Mountaineer Area Council, Boy Scouts of America at 1831 Speedway Ave., Fairmont, WV 26554 with In Memory of Bill Riffle in the memo line. Bill loved scouting and the opportunities it provided to the youth in its programs.
