William David Rodden, of Dixon, formerly of Lebanon, passed away peacefully at his home on November 9, 2022, at the age of 53. He was preceded in death by his father, William Don Rodden and his mother Patsy Ann Johnson.
He was first married to Gabrielle Olma of Germany, and together they had a son, Daniel Olma.
He was later remarried in May of 2000 in Toulon, IL to Anita Pearl (Schwiderski) Rodden. During their marriage they had two beautiful daughters, Haley and Ashley Rodden.
On January 10, 2001, in Chicago, Illinois, Dave reenlisted in active federal service in the United
States Army and served until July 6, 2009, when he was honorably discharged at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, at the rank of Sergeant E-6. With his prior active service and this enlistment, Dave had a total of fourteen years of military service. During his military career, he did service in Iraq, Africa, Afghanistan, Korea, Germany, and in designated imminent danger areas. All for which he received multiple medals.
Dave's military education consisted of BASIC NCO CRS (BNCOC), COMBAT LIFE SAVERS CRS, FBCB2 LDR OPNET CERT, PR LDRSHP DEV CRS, SAFETY OFFICER/NCO, and his primary military specialty was 13M30 MLRS/HIMARS CREW. He was awarded and entitled to wear the ARMY COMMENDATION MEDAL (4TH AWARD), the ARMY ACHIEVEMENT MEDAL (5TH AWARD), the MERITORIOUS UNIT COMMENDATION MEDAL; the ARMY GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL (3rd AWARD), the NATIONAL DEFENSE SERVICE MEDAL (2ND AWARD), the SOUTHWEST ASIA SERVICE MEDAL W/BRONZE SERVICE STAR (3RD AWARD), the WAR ON TERRORISM SERVICE MEDAL, the KOREAN DEFENSE SERVICE MEDAL, the HUMANITARIAN SERVICE MEDAL, the IRAQ CAMPAIGN MEDAL W/CAMPAIGN STAR, the ARMY SERVICE RIBBON, the OVERSEAS SERVICE RIBBON (5th AWARD), the KU-LIB-MDL (SAUDI ARABIA), the KU-LIB-MDL (KUWAIT), the BASIC MARKSMANSHIP QUALIFICATION BADGE, and the DRIVER AND MECHANIC BADGE. A man of excellent character, Dave's "Honorable Discharge" is a testimonial of dedicated and selfless service to his country.
Those left to celebrate the life of Dave include: Three children, Haley Rodden (Kolton) of Peoria, Illinois, Ashley Rodden of Chillicothe, Illinois, and Daniel Olma of Germany; two grandchildren, Zac Berchtold and Maya Sidwell; seven sisters, Irene Hargett (Jerry) of Richland, Mo; Maggie Lemery (Bobby) of Lebanon, Mo; Kathy Luttrell (Richard) of Lebanon, Mo; Linda Rodden (Dennis Evans) of Richland, Mo; Joan Nighsonger of Lebanon, Mo; Teri Wyatt (Greg) of Ridgefield, Connecticut; and Angie Johnson (Jeff Chandler) of Lebanon, Mo; nephews; nieces; and other relatives and friends.
A memorial funeral service for Dave Rodden is being planned and will be announced by Shadel's Colonial Chapel, 1001 Lynn Street, Lebanon, Mo 65536.
Burial and full military honors for Dave Rodden will follow at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Waynesville, Mo. Honorary pallbearers for Dave will be James Parrish, Jose Benitez, and Shayne Shirey. Local arrangements are by the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, 406 South Main Street, Vienna, Mo 65582.
