William Rush Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Framptom Funeral Home, P.A. - Federalsburg on Jan. 20, 2026.
On January 20, 2026, the world lost a remarkable man, William "Bill" Arthur Rush, who was born on February 12, 1943, in Pennsylvania to the late Herman and Mary (Carr) Rush. He lived in Preston, MD dedicating his life to service and family, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and love. Bill passed away peacefully at the age of 82.

Bill originally put his commitment to service on display as a medic in the U.S. Navy, where he developed a deep sense of duty, care for others, and earned the nickname "Doc". Following his military service, he joined the Baltimore City Police Department as an undercover narcotics agent, where he made a significant impact in creating safer communities. After Bill's six years of service with the Baltimore City Police Department, he became the owner/operator of Accurate Roofing & Siding.

Above all, Bill cherished his family. He is survived by his loving daughters, Shelly Dulin and Sherry Stoker; along with their husbands Stacy Dulin and Joe Stoker. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Jordan Rush Sanford and Jacob Rush Sanford, Matthew Dulin, Tanner Stoker, Garrett Stoker, and Bonnie Stoker; as well as two great-grandchildren, Diana Joan Dulin and Maeve Lynn Stoker. His siblings, Eddie Rush (Linda), Nancy Rush Cavey, and David Rush.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joan Bowie Rush; his son Scott William Rush, and his siblings Hully "Dutch" Rush, Robert "Bob" Rush, and Sarah "Sis" Stoll.

Beyond his professional achievements, Bill had a passion for grafting, gardening, bowling, rummy, fishing, and golfing, often sharing these moments with family and friends. His love for animals was evident in the care he gave his kitty "Pac Baby" and his pet fish, delightfully hand-feeding them in the tranquility of his outdoor pond.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of William Arthur Rush in a heartfelt service that will honor the profound impact he made on those around him. A memorial service will be held at the Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery in Hurlock, Maryland on Wednesday January 28, 2026 at 1:00 pm. Bill's family invites friends to the Preston Lions Club following the service for light refreshments where stories will be shared, and memories cherished, reflecting the warmth he brought into so many lives.

Bill's spirit will live on in the hearts of those he touched. He will be remembered not only for his dedication to duty but for his kindness, humor, and generosity. In celebrating his remarkable life, we honor a beloved father, friend, and Christian- William Rush, may you rest in peace.
