William Ruskowitz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Patrick T Lanigan Funeral Home - East Pittsburgh on Feb. 1, 2026.
Of Braddock, age 83, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 31, 2026.

Born the son of the late Stephen Ruskowitz and the late Alice (Varner) Ruskowitz.

Loving companion of the late Janet Rarick.

Dear brother of Carol Lucas and the late Jack (the late Mary Jo) Ruskowitz.

Adored uncle of Kim Lucas and Debbie Serene. Cherished great uncle of Emily and Anna Serene.

Also survived by two nephews.

Bill was employed for many years with the United States Post Office before retiring. He was an avid traveler, and valued exploring the corners of the world, embracing new cultures and experiences with an open heart. His love for adventure was matched by his love for the great outdoors. Bill was an enthusiastic hunter and fisherman, often sharing tales of his excursions that captivated and entertained all who listened. His storytelling was not just a hobby but an art form, and those who had the pleasure of hearing his stories will treasure those memories.

Bill was an avid animal lover, softball player, and bowler. He was also a longtime member of the Braddock Moose, where he held several leadership positions. One of Bill's favorite special treats was when he visited the Brighton Hot Dog Shop.

Most of all, Bill treasured the memories shared with his family. He treated his nieces and great nieces like his children, and valued nothing more than spending time laughing and telling stories to them.

Friends are welcome on Wednesday from 3-6 p.m. at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 700 Linden Ave. at Cable, East Pittsburgh, PA 15112, (412) 824-8800, where a Blessing Service will be held on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
