William Henry Sampson, 78, of Westfield, passed away at his residence on Wednesday December 2, 2020. Born in Plainfield to the late Henry and Violet Thompson Sampson, Bill was a lifelong resident of Westfield. A graduate of Westfield High School, he was a Police Officer, retiring from the Westfield Police Department after 30 years of service. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the US Army. A member of the PBA Local #90, Westfield, Bill enjoyed collecting stamps, coins, and baseball cards. He was the beloved husband of the late Elizabeth Anne Sampson (nee Capone). Bill is survived by daughter: Elizabeth Veiss and her husband Andrew, son: William H. Sampson Jr., two granddaughters: Olivia and Ella Sampson, and sister: Barbara Spiegel and her husband William. Graveside services will be Monday Decemember 7, 2020 at 11:30AM at Fairview Cemetery, Westfield. Memorial contributions may be made to the Police Benevolent Association. Arrangements by Gray Funeral home, Westfield.
