It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William “Bill” Frank Sankbeil III, 70, of Beckley, WV. Bill passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2023 in Morgantown, WV after suffering from a serious medical issue. He was born on August 31, 1953, in Martinsburg, WV, to the late William Frank Sankbeil Jr. and Wanda Mauck Sankbeil.
Bill was a West Virginia native and graduate of Princeton Senior High, class of 1972. A son of a West Virginia State Trooper, Bill followed in the footsteps of his father and dedicated his life to the service of others. He was one of the first in the state of West Virginia to obtain the certification of EMT and proudly served as a National Registered Paramedic where he spent several decades saving lives. Bill enjoyed sharing stories about his career and the impact it had on his life. Before retiring, Bill most recently held the position of Personnel Safety Director for Magic Mart, Inc.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Theresa, of Beckley, WV; son William “Bill” Sankbeil IV and companion Sarah Miller of Roanoke, VA; his daughters Jennifer Kelley and husband Nolan of Martinsburg, WV, and Jessica Bailey and husband Maitland of Morgantown, WV. He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren Kaitland Maurer, Blake Sankbeil, Jacob Sankbeil, Bryce Bailey, Madison Bailey, and Lillia Kelley. He also leaves behind his brother Vernon Edward Sankbeil and wife Diane of Martinsburg, WV, and his loyal canine companion Brody who has been by his side for the past 10 years.
Bill’s sense of humor and wit will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In honoring Bill’s wishes for privacy and intimate remembrance, a private family memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the National First Responders Fund https://www.nfrf.org/ in honor of Bill.
