William Schaasberg Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 7, 2025.
William Simon Schaasberg Jr., known to most as "Painter Bill," passed away on September 29th, 2025 surrounded by love from his family who meant the world to him.
Bill was a man of simple joys and a big heart. He loved fishing, music, and spending time with those he cherished most - his children (and grandchildren), Amanda, Gary, and Kayshe, as well as Amanda's close friends Tonya, Crystal, and Summer, who were like daughters to him. He was a proud grandfather to Keegan, Devon, Landon, Aiden, Ayla, Isaiah, Madison, Nova, Zach, Anna, Lilly, Clayton, Kayla, Courtney, Santiago, and Javier. Uncle Bill was also deeply loved by his nieces and nephews: Kimberly, James, Melissa, Lexi, Kristi, Nicole, Danielle, Jamie, Jimmy, Tina, Ricardo, and Alisha.
Bill is preceded in death by his mother, Patricia, and his brother, Tony. He is survived by his siblings, Diana (Sam), Jim (Jeanette), and Paul (Paulette - his favorite sister-in-law), his loving friend, Mary, who generously took care of him over the last year, along with many family members and friends who will forever remember his humor, warmth, and generosity.
Bill's life was filled with color - not only through his work as a painter but through the love he shared so freely with those around him. His legacy will live on in every smile, story, and song he leaves behind.
In keeping with his generous spirit, Bill was an organ donor, and his final wish was to donate his body to science. His family proudly fulfilled that wish through the University of Michigan's Anatomical Donations Program."
