William “Bill” D. Schaeffer, age 70, of Guys Mills, passed away Sunday evening, March 16, 2025, in his residence.
He was born February 2, 1955, son of Jesse and Dorothea Schaeffer.
He was a 1973 graduate of Townville High School and on November 26, 2008, Bill married the former Brenda Pratt, she survives. He was the owner/operator of The Building Connection later Schaeffer Construction; subcontract work for several contractors; had a part in building over 400 homes from PA to SC.
He enjoyed playing the guitar and banjo, gardening, daylily groups, hunting, and fishing. He also loved to breed many of his own flower crosses. Bill was a self-sufficient man who loved the outdoors and working with his hands. He loved baking and cooking and was known for his fish fries. Over the years, Bill received many awards over the years from the Crawford County Fair for his vegetables, flowers and baked goods.
He is survived by his wife of 16 years; a half-sister, Janice; dear friends, Stan Smith, Doug and Robin Hadlock, Doug and Cindy Bradley, and Howard Foltz; a stepdaughter, Elizabeth; sons, Logan, Elton, John, Nolan, and Brian; grandchildren, Brendan, Brooke, Brittany, Dale, Isabella, Airyanna, Julia, Cale, Jahnelle, Aryana, Trent, and Izaya.
He was preceded in death by his parents, half-sisters Janet, Eva, Eleanor, and Thelma, a half-brother Ken, and a son, Adam.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2025 at 6:00 PM in ROSE AND WAID FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE. Family and friends will be received on Thursday, March 20, 2025 from 3:00 PM until the time of service.
Memorial contributions may be made to Randolph Volunteer Fire Department, 11475 State Hwy 198, Guys Mills, PA 16327.
