William Schindell Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jan. 26, 2026.
"I hope whenever someone says my name, it puts a smile on people's faces."

William Edward Schindell, Jr. was embraced by eternal peace Sunday, January 18, 2026, after an eight year battle against epilepsy. Born November 3, 1987, at Northside Hospital in Youngstown, OH, William completed the Schindell family as the youngest of four siblings.

He attended grade school at St. Joseph the Provider Elementary in Campbell, participating on the basketball team. He continued his education at Ursuline High School in Youngstown, competing in wrestling and football, where he earned the nickname "The Filipino Flash," and shot put for track and field. After graduating in 2006, William began work at Santa's Workshop Inc. in Girard, rising to warehouse manager. He maintained his position there for these last twenty years, considered by his coworkers as family.

While William had many hobbies - watching movies, playing cards, going out to eat, and spending time with family and friends -from a young age, he displayed great enthusiasm in four main areas: strategy games, animals, dance, and fire. He could often be found setting up a "quick" four-hour-plus game of Risk or Monopoly and playing computer war games with his friends. When not engaged with gaming, Will was petting kittens and puppies, feeding the neighborhood strays, and cuddling up with his two pups. Beginning in childhood until his early thirties, William performed cultural Filipino dances for FAONEO at the Canfield Fair and other events. He utilized his natural rhythm as an adult by participating in "flow nights" around the area, using handmade rainsticks during his dances, becoming known as "The Rain Man." Will enjoyed building and relaxing by bonfires, often maintaining the fire for several days. On the Fourth of July (and for the following week), he would be purchasing and setting off large firework displays. Eventually, his love of fire entwined with his love of dance, and he began fire spinning with his rainstick, often performing at Nelson's Ledges. These were often his happiest times. He will forever be remembered for his bright smile, his infectious laughter, his impromptu dance sessions, and his never-ending silliness.

William leaves to cherish his memory and celebrate his life: his parents, Leah ( maiden Manzan) and William Schindell; his siblings Mililani (Tom) Perry, John Schindell, and Mia (Nic) Schindell-Culver; nieces and nephew Alyssa, Leilani, Victoria, Enzo, and Auriel; his two pups Charles and CJ; and an abundance of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Viewing and family to receive friends on Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 4-7 pm, and Friday from 11 am-12:30 pm, when the funeral service will begin at Cremation & Funeral Service by Gary S Silvat Inc, 3896 Oakwood Ave, Austintown, OH 44515.
