William Clinton Scott, 84, of Ruston, Louisiana, entered his eternal rest on March 3, 2026.

Clint was born on June 26, 1941, in Natchitoches, Louisiana, to William Cullen and Linnie Roy Scott. Clint's love of the outdoors began at an early age while fishing and hunting with his father. He spent his summers lifeguarding at the Natchitoches City Pool. After graduating from Natchitoches High School, where he excelled as a defensive tackle for the Red Devils, he was ready to move to Ruston and become a Bulldog. After completing his forestry degree in 1964 from Louisiana Tech, he began his working career in Greenwood, Mississippi at the Baldwin Piano Mill. Interested in more of a forestry role, he returned to Ruston where he became the first forester for Santiam Southern Plywood, which later became Willamette Industries. In 2003, he retired after 37 years from Weyerhaeuser, who had purchased Willamette several years earlier.

Upon retirement, Clint enjoyed traveling, taking care of his bird dogs, and growing pecan trees. He loved spending time at his home away from home in Rotan, Texas.

Clint is preceded in death by his parents, William Cullen and Linnie Roy Scott: his sister, Cullyne Scott Brady: his infant sister; and his stepson, William Jeffry Carroll

Survivors include Vernaughn Scott, his wife of 52 years; Fletcher and Pam Scott, Christopher and Laurie Anne Scott and Jason and Tina Scott.
