William J. Seuss, known affectionately as Bill to his friends and family, passed away with family on October 18, 2024, at Oakdale Rehab in W. Boylston, MA. Born on June 9, 1937, in Nashua, NH, Bill lived a fulfilling life marked by dedication to his family, his work and his community.
Bill is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Pauline, who shared his life's journey until her passing in 2016. He is survived by a loving family that includes his son, Stephen; his daughter, Deborah; his daughter-in-law, Lana; surrogate daughter Celeste; his sister, Ellen; his cherished grandchildren, Jennifer, Billy, Joe, and Ashley; his adored great-grandson, Leger; and extended family and friends. Each member of his family was a source of immense pride and joy for Bill, and he leaves behind a legacy of love, integrity, and solid work ethics that will continue to guide them.
After completing high school, he pursued a passion for hands-on work, mastering the trade of auto repair. His skills and entrepreneurial spirit led him to found ACME Auto Body in 1957, a business that thrived under his leadership and became a staple in the community. Bill's dedication to his craft earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and customers alike. ACME is still a family-owned business operated by his son, daughter-in-law, grandchildren and dedicated employees with the same level of quality and integrity.
Aside from his professional success, Bill was particularly proud of his role as a Brother in the Masons, an organization that he believed in wholeheartedly and in their philanthropic work such as the
Shriners Hospital for Children. His commitment to service extended to his time with the National Guard, where he served with honor and a strong sense of duty.
Family was the cornerstone of Bill's life, and there were many cherished moments around the Sunday "pasta meals" with Bill's unique sense of humor and quick wit gathering steam to tease everyone at the table creating fun and laughter. He loved his summer garden, taking great pleasure in planting and nurturing a variety of vegetables each year. He always planted extras, as he enjoyed sharing the fruits of his labor with family, friends, employees and even his customers. Bill also loved dogs of all sizes and breeds and was known for the biscuits in his pockets for his furry friends. His other passion was building, and he constructed over 25 homes in Wells, Maine.
As we remember Bill, we do so with a sense of gratitude for the time we shared with him and for the countless memories that will forever be cherished. His was a life well-lived, filled with purpose, kindness, generosity and an unwavering commitment to the things that mattered most. Bill's legacy is one of hard work, devotion to family, and a generous spirit that enriched the lives of all who knew him.
Our sincere thanks to his extended family at Oakdale; from activities, the CNA's, nurses and all who touched his daily life to support him during the past several years. Your dedication, care, love, and interaction made a difference in his life, and we are forever grateful.
A simple graveside service at the Evergreen Cemetery will be held on Friday, October 25th at 1:00 PM and all are welcome.
His memory will live on not only through his family but also through the countless lives he touched with his generosity and warmth. He will be deeply missed, but the impact of his life's work and the love he gave so freely will endure for generations to come.
