William Shaw Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Gladfelter Funeral Home, Inc. on Feb. 5, 2026.
William Robert "Billy" Shaw Jr., 55, passed away suddenly on January 17, 2026, in York, Pennsylvania. Born on July 17, 1970, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Billy brought love and laughter to those around him.

First and foremost, Billy was "the best pop-pop" to the light of his life-his beloved granddaughter Katalina Rose, his "peanut." Their cherished Friday Night Sleepovers were filled with movies, games, baking cupcakes, snow shoveling and snow angels, and their favorite movie snacks: Skittles and "poppy popcorn." These moments were a testament to the deep bond they shared and the joy he found in being her Pop-Pop.

Billy is survived by his wife Kimberly; their children Ashley Rose Shaw and Billy Shaw III; their treasured granddaughter Katalina Rose; his mother Joanne; his sisters Tracy and Kim; brother-in-law & oldest friend Al; niece and nephews Devin (Sam), Colby, Alan Patrick (Olivia), and Brian Michael; in addition to his many cousins and their families. He was predeceased by his father William R. Shaw Sr., his cousin Echo Lafferty, and, most recently, close friend Pasquale DiPietro.

Billy was a master conversationalist, talking to neighbors and strangers alike, making friends everywhere he went. A man who valued connection, Billy maintained close relationships with those he loved. He spoke daily with his mother Joanne and sister Tracy, sharing stories and keeping up with family news. He took great pride in the adults that Devin, Alan Patrick, Colby, and Brian Michael had become. His bond with his cousins was strong-he enjoyed spending time with them whenever possible and in having become someone they could turn to for help and laughter, though he still took just a little pride in his role in, and the telling of, their youthful escapades and the trouble they inevitably ended up in.

Billy enjoyed spending time with his children. He especially enjoyed exchanging travel stories with his son Billy III and had recently begun attending live concerts-a favorite pastime-with his daughter, "babydoll" Ashley Rose, continuing a tradition he long shared with sister Kim and brother-in-law Al.

An avid Eagles fan, he shared countless Sundays watching football alongside friends and family. He also enjoyed winning during nightly Jeopardy episodes, claiming he "let you win" on the rare occasions he was defeated. Watching him get almost every answer correct on an episode of Jeopardy 31+ yrs ago is actually how he originally attracted Kim's attention and they began dating shortly after.

Billy grew up in a Navy family and spent his teenage years in Europe, having adventures that became legendary tales within the family-tales his cousins continue to enjoy re-hearing and referring to at every opportunity.

May the memory of William Robert "Billy" Shaw Jr.-a devoted father, pop-pop, husband, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend-bring comfort to those who carry him in their hearts.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at Calvary Lutheran Church 9 N Main St. Visitation begins at 11am, with the Service at 12p, and Luncheon to follow. A celebration of Billy's life will be held in the summer.
