Robert Brodbeck Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by John W. Keffer Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc. - East York on Feb. 5, 2026.
Robert Henry "Bob" Brodbeck, age 66, of York, Pennsylvania, passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at Hospice & Community Care Inpatient Center in Mount Joy, following a battle with stage 4 cancer.

Bob was born in York, Pennsylvania. He was the son of the late Ervin Raymond Brodbeck and the late Louise Mae (Latshaw) Beckman, and stepson of Donald Beckman.

Bob earned his GED and devoted 25 years of dedicated service to the York County Prison, where he worked as a Kitchen Supervisor and Officer from October 26, 1996, until his retirement on May 3, 2021. He was deeply respected and adored by coworkers and inmates alike. Known affectionately as "Kitchen Bob," he was remembered for his kindness, warm personality, and especially for the soups he lovingly prepared.

Bob enjoyed the comfort of his home and cherished time spent with his children and family. He loved watching football, wrestling, and his favorite television shows. A loyal Philadelphia Eagles and Alabama football fan, Bob also enjoyed cooking for family and friends and listening to oldies music. He was a hardworking man who took pride in everything he did.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his sisters, Linda Brodbeck (March 21, 2008) and Nancy Covert (April 4, 2023).

He is survived by his former wives, Susan Clemens and Teresa Poley; his children, Shawn Brodbeck, Jennifer Dillon, and Jessica Brodbeck; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom he loved dearly. He is also survived by his siblings, Maryann Schrum, Charlotte Friese, Randy Brodbeck, and Ervin Raymond Brodbeck Jr., along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Bob's wishes were to be cremated. Arrangements are being handled by John W. Keffer Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date by his children.

Robert Henry Brodbeck will be deeply missed, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

I remember 20 years ago while working in the kitchen with you and Pige, making strombolis and pizzas. You always making everyone laugh, you treated all the prisoners with respect and dignity. Thats why everyone loved and respected you Kitchen Bob. You definitely made my time incarcerated easier, thank you for treating me like a person and not a prisoner. When I got out, I remember seeing you at the HOP and we hung out and drank a beer. Rest easy Kitchen Bob, GOD got you buddy, no more pain

Kitchen Bob was a great person with great character. For all the work and time you put in I wish you would have had more time to enjoy it. You will be sorely missed by myself and many people you shared your time with in that kitchen. Fly high my friend and rest in piece.
