William P. Sheaffer, of New Fairfield, cherished husband of Lyn Sheaffer, died at Memorial Sloan Kettering in Manhattan, NY, on Friday, June 27, 2025, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA, on February 17, 1953, son of the late Alan D. and Shirley Sheaffer.

William proudly served his country in the United States Navy for almost 10 years during the Vietnam War, demonstrating courage, dedication, and a deep sense of duty. Among the many places he was stationed, including Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, his favorite was Newport, Rhode Island, where his love for the sea and sailing truly shone. After his time in the Navy, William continued to nurture this passion, spending countless joyful hours sailing and being on boats.

William worked for most of his life with the International Restaurant Show of New York as the show manager. However, his favorite and most fulfilling job was with the Lord. William was a devoted servant of the Lord, whose life was a shining example of faith and compassion. Deeply involved with The Mission Church, he dedicated countless hours to serving others and sharing God's love with everyone he met. William's unwavering commitment to his faith and his church family touched many lives, leaving a lasting legacy of kindness, generosity, and devotion.

In addition to his devoted wife of 37 years, Lyn, he will be missed by his three children, Alan Sheaffer and his wife, Ceren, Matthew Sheaffer, and Sarah Sheaffer; and his sister, Barbara Smith. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, beloved cousins, in-laws, and extended family.

Funeral Services will be held at The Mission Church, 4101 NY-52, Holmes, NY on Monday, July 14th at 11:00 am.

The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Sunday, July 13th between the hours of 1:00 – 3:00 pm.

Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to the Brewster chapter of the American Cancer Society Relay For Life.

I haven´t seen Bill or Lyn for several years. But I will never forget either of them. There were five of us...Bill and Lyn, Gary and Sue and myself...five peas in a pod. Together we trained at the Toronto-based Soaking Prayer teachings. We did so much laughing and praying and together grew closer to God and to each other. At Nee Life Community Church, our training led to the formation of the Soaking Prayer ministry. Bill loved his family tremendously. I know one day we will see each other again...five peas in a pod.
