William Warren Singletary, Jr. passed away on July 20th, 2022 at the age of 84. He was surrounded by his family. He was known as William for serious occasions, Bill for personal ones, and back home in Rowland, North Carolina he was Billy. He was born and raised in Rowland, NC the oldest of 5 siblings. He is survived by his sister Diane Bethea of Dublin GA, brother Thomas Worth Singletary of Seven Lakes West, NC, sister Karen Brown of Boiling Springs, SC, and sister Kris Bischoff of Guilford, IN. As a child he helped his Dad working in the family grocery store. He attended 2 years at NC State, when he decided that he needed a change and considered the Air Force. Considering he had never been in an airplane before he used all his money and found a farmer to take him in a crop duster to assure he didn't get airsick. Well he passed and went on to join the Air Force. Shortly after, he needed a date to go to the Air Force Ball and his sister Karen set him up with her best friend, Mary Alice Hall (dec.1989). They were married in 1965 in Harrells, NC. He flew B-52's in the Vietnam War, and earned the rank of Captain. After he retired from the Air Force, he flew for Delta Airlines for 30 years. With Mary, he had 3 children. Della Rae Married to Edward Joseph Wirtz from Los Angeles, CA. They have 2 children Taylor Mary, and Lofton Charles. Warren Hall married to Rhonda Singletary from Sugar Hill, GA. They have 2 children Grace Elizabeth, and Carly Rae. Leah Margaret married to Robert Wayne Graves from Topsail Beach, NC. They have 4 children Chandler Myles, Mary Margaret, Luke Warren, and Hayla Alice. After Mary Alice passed, Bill was lucky enough to marry another amazing lady, Betty Jo Singletary. She has 4 children and 3 granddaughters. Kent Cale (dec.1985), Karen Turner, Kelly Cale, and Kip Cale all of Cumming, Ga. Granddaughters Sara Turner, Kara Tuthill, and Tara Walker. Bill had an amazing sense of humor, and if you were around him long you would for sure be laughing. He loved to travel and visited every state as well as 55 countries. He loved his family fiercely. Yearly, we would take a family vacation to Topsail Beach, NC. He loved walking on the beach, but in his later years, he enjoyed sitting on the balcony watching his family, smoking a cigar. He loved food, and took great pleasure knowing what the next meal would be. He was an avid reader and had an extensive library in his home with all of his classics. His favorites were anything pertaining to history. He was always learning, and truly was the smartest person we have ever known. His last moments he was surrounded by family and lots of love, and as if on cue a rainbow, thunderstorm, male and female cardinal, and a hooting owl. Well done Papa, rest easy. There will be a celebration of his life at a later date.Ingram Funeral Home, 210 Ingram Ave, Cumming, GA is in charge of arrangements
