William Ross Sortor, of Independence, KY passed away surrounded by his loving family at St. Elizabeth Hospice Center in Edgewood, KY on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at the age of 72.
He was born in Westfield, NJ on September 17, 1951, the son of the late William and Mary Sortor. Ross was a proud steelworker and in his spare time had enjoyed hunting, fishing and building things. His greatest joy, however, came from spending time with his family whom he cherished deeply.
Preceding Ross in death were his parents.
Those left surviving to carry on Ross’ legacy include his loving wife, Joy Sortor; daughter, Stephanie (John) Stafford; sister, Beth (Bob) Prast; grandchildren, Gregory Sortor and Aaron Stafford; nieces and nephews, Bill (Amy) Montford, Jeffrey (Nicole) Montford, Brynnan, Gracyn, Landen, Garrett, Sam and Jud; as well as other close relatives and friends who are now emptier upon his passing.
A visitation celebrating Ross’ life will be held from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Friday, April 5, 2024, at Floral Hills Funeral Home. 5336 Old Taylor Mill Road, Taylor Mill, KY 41015. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Pastor David Gamble will officiate. Ross will then be laid to rest at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
