Obituary
William E. "Bill" Sowell was born September 29, 1970, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He dedicated his life to Christ at True Vine Missionary Baptist Church as a young boy.
William "Bill" attended Indianapolis schools, #45, #101, and Southport and Arsenal Tech high schools. He earned his GED. He received a certificate for completing the Fatherhood and Family Restoration Program as a Trainer from Refuge House Ministries, Inc.
William "Bill" was a wonderful dad and made certain that he provided for his children in many ways. He would walk from Hillside Avenue to Safeway to provide for the girls when they were younger. His daughter remembers teasing him about having all his teeth including the back ones while he was in his 50's (a little inside humor for them). Bill is a "girl dad", although he also had a son. During a transitional time in his life, Bill wrote these words inside of a bible: "God, let my children understand me and in what I always told them. I love and miss all of my children and grandkids and my mother. I did not set out to be away from them the most of their life. And God knows that I'm sorry for not being there when they needed me the most God touch my children's heart and let them understand that I want the best for them and that's all "
William "Bill" loved life! He played football, wrestled, basketball, baseball, and horseshoes when he was younger. Bill enjoyed going to "The Ticket House", and just hanging out with family and friends. He was full of energy and always on the go. His catching smile and laugh would pull you in a "be silly" space.
William E. "Bill" Sowell was called home on Monday, August 7, 2023. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Edward Taylor, and his brother, Robert Sowell.
He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Idella Miller; his brothers, Larry Sowell and Terry Sowell (Valerie); his son, Andrew Lester; his daughters, Tashana Sowell, Tiara Sowell, Ashley Sowell, Cynthia Sowell, Breiona Radford, and RayeVan Nelson; his nine loving grandchildren; his special friend, Diana Hudson; and his nieces, first cousin's aka sisters and brothers in Indianapolis, and other family and friends.

My memory of Bill as a child when we were neighbors, he always stood out to me as quite loving and very special. His Mom and all of his brothers actually. It appears that as a man and father, was absolutely the right inner thought I had for my then Lil Buddy. God Bless Him and his surviving fam.
