William C. “Bill” Stephens age 87, of Greenville, formerly of Fenwick and Detroit passed away Wednesday June 14, 2023 under the care of Corewell Spectrum Hospice. He was born May 17, 1936 in Detroit, the son of Ivan L. & Phyllis M. (Duane) Stephens. He was known as Captain Detroit, a firefighter in Detroit, former owner of the Shady Lady Beauty Salon and equipment operator extraordinaire. Bill is survived by his wife Anna Maria of Detroit; sons Jeffrey (Jayne) Stephens of Murray, Kentucky and Greg Stephens; five grandchildren Amy Stephens of Murray Kentucky, Andrew (Lauren) Stephens of Louisville Kentucky, Alex Stephens of Murray, Kentucky, Adam Stephens of Murray, Kentucky and Chad Stephens of Greenville; his great grandchildren and his dog Eddy. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Marlene Stephens and his fur babies. Private visitation will be held and burial will be in Palo Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made in Bill’s name to the City of Detroit Fire Department.
