Deacon William Stevens, Jr. Obituary

Deacon William Stevens, Jr. (June Bug), 71 of Elyria entered his eternal resting place on December 28, 2025. He was born in Elyria on July 7, 1954. William attended Elyria City schools and was a 1973 graduate of Elyria High School. He went on to work for the City of Elyria for over 20 years.

William was an avid lover of cars from detailing to building engines and drag racing. He also enjoyed grilling, going fishing and spending time with his family. He took pride in keeping a clean set of wheels. William enjoyed cruising through the city on nice summer days. William accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Full Gospel the #1 Church of Elyria where he served as head deacon.

William leaves to cherish his memory his sons William Lockett of Elyria, Derek Lockett of Lorain, daughter Shani Stevens Standifer (Marco) of Tennessee, grandsons, Derek, Jr., Jailen and Keon, and granddaughters Cierra Jade, Serenity Kay, and Crystasia. He is also survived by his brother, Jesse Stevens, Sr. of Elyria., nephews Shawnlee (Antoinette) Stevens and Jesse Stevens, Jr. both Kentucky and niece Nikki (Jason) Carson of Columbus.

William is preceded in death by his parents William Stevens Sr. and Emma Lois Adam, sister, Barbara Ann Stevens and several aunts and uncles.

A viewing will be held on Friday January 9, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Carter Funeral Home, 3001 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, OH 44052 and a celebration of life will follow at 11:00am.
