William C. "Bill" Swords II, age 58, passed away Friday, January 5, 2024, at Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, KY, surrounded by his family. He was born on January 4, 1966, to the late Bob and Donna (Humphrey) Swords.
Bill is survived by his children, Kayla (Scott) Bartram, of Portsmouth and Billy Swords, of Patriot, Ohio; grandchildren, Skylar Bartram, Justine Swords, Collin Swords, and Lakyn Bartram; brothers, Tim (Kim) Swords, of Sciotoville, Ohio, and Michael Swords, of Patriot, Ohio; sister, Terri (Ken) Hale, of Berea, KY; mother-in-law, Kay Smith; and ex-wife, Janice (Steve) Hughes. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Rickey Swords, Scott Swords, and father-in-law, Jim Smith.
Bill went to school in Portsmouth and after school he worked for several different companies including H&H Retreading, Davis Trucking, Osborne Equipment and then Rumpke. He also owned and operated William C. Swords Contracting for several years. He loved to work with his hands and will be dearly missed.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 10, 2024, from 11-1 at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home in Oak Hill with funeral services following at 1:00 with Reverend James Ellison officiating. Burial will follow in Gallia Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com.
