William F. Talbot

William F. Talbot (July 1, 1931- December 15, 2024) passed away peacefully at home in West Chester after a battle with dementia. He is met in heaven by his wife Ruth Reid Talbot, who passed away in 2009 from Alzheimer's Disease, his daughter Debra, his parents, and siblings James and Lenore. Bill is survived by his sons Mark (Karen) and William J. Talbot and daughter Kathleen (Robert) Ciferni. His grandchildren Jason, Christian, and Amber Talbot and Brian and Keith Ciferni. As well as great-grandsons Christian, Reddington, Jason Jr., and Nova Talbot. He also leaves behind his granddog and best friend, Obi.
Bill was raised in Ocean City, New Jersey. His family later moved to Drexel Hill. He then went on to serve with the United States Army as a Military Policeman in Munich, Germany, in the aftermath of World War 2. When he returned home, his love for automobiles led him to a career in car sales, working for various dealerships and even running his own car lot/auto body shop where he also sold custom built Dune Buggy kits. He worked in the car sales business into his 80s. He also loved tinkering with his extensive model train collection, building and expanding on his railroad villages for many years. Bill met his wife Ruth while working together. They married and raised their four children in Upper Darby. Later in life, they moved to their dream home in West Chester.
Bill had a strong work ethic and a tenacious spirit even in his last days. While he was able to, he would always make certain his lawn was in perfect condition and that the flag was out on staff every morning and inside safely every night. He had an affinity for story-telling which was only enhanced as his dementia progressed. His imagination allowed him many adventures that he would share with any who would listen.
He never lost his love for Ocean City, and even until his final week he was asking to go back and be with his parents and siblings in his beloved childhood home. Bill was a true patriot, a humble man with honor, and loved so deeply by those around him. The family is extremely grateful to the Veterans Administration, Home Instead and Holisticare Hospice for their support and care in the last couple of years. Because of the caring assistance of his home health aides, we were able to keep him safe and comfortable at home right to the end.
Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 4th, 2025 at Logan-Videon Funeral Home, 2001 Sproul Road, Broomall PA, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m.. Private Interment at a later date.
