Bill Troutman
Bill was a "rock talker." Meet him, and immediately he would engage you in conversation, starting with a compliment, "I like your hat-or shirt–or cane." Known for his sense of humor, his infectious chuckle, his love of an entertaining tale, and his ability to treat everyone with kindness, compassion, and genuine interest, Bill connected to all he met.
So it is with deep sadness the family of William Joseph Troutman, notifies his friends of their loss. Bill quietly slipped away at home –April 10, 2024 in Hendersonville, NC.
Bill is lovingly remembered by his wife of 51 years, Elaine Royer, his twin brother, Richard Ben, and his sister, Cora (Lew) Niver. He is predeceased by his brother, David (Karen).
Born in Braford, PA in 1942 and inspired by his parents, Richard and Carolyn, Bill developed a love of nature, sports, construction, and art. He hunted, fished, sketched, built, and painted.
From his first job, (collecting chicken eggs for a neighbor), through years of building Kinzua Park overlooks for the U.S. National Forestry, to arming warheads in Germany as a senior assembly rocket specialist in the U.S. Army, and finally, to designing film roll- coating machines for Eastman Kodak in Rochester, NY, Bill enjoyed his various careers, and he felt enriched by all those with whom he worked.
In retirement, still committed to engaging and serving people, Bill devoted himself to volunteering for Seniors Helping Seniors, Good Samaritans, Meals on Wheels, and Pardee Hospital.
To honor Bill's memory, consider donating to your favorite charity, or share a good joke, or do something thoughtful for another person, or simply greet someone you don't know. Bill would like that.
A celebration of Bill's life will be held on Sunday, April 28th at 1 o'clock in the afternoon in the Chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Hendersonville, North Carolina
