William Umbauer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Howell-Lussi Funeral Home on Feb. 15, 2026.
Our beloved brother William Umbauer went to be with the lord on Thursday February 12th, 2026 while under the care of Highland Manor Nursing Home and Pathways Hospice. At his side was his brother John and his sister Charlotte.

Born February 7th, 1948 to the late William and Idamay Bath Umbauer. He was a graduate of Wyoming Area High School Class of 1967 and attended Luzerne County Community College. He was a member of the former Luzerne Avenue Baptist Church.

Bill was a lifelong member of the West Pittston Hose Company #1. He enjoyed many hobbies notably building room size model train displays. He was an avid fisherman, gardener, baker and his canning skills were exceptional.

He was employed by the West Pittston Department of Public works and then went to Keystone Automoitve where he retired from Automotive Operations.

Bill was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Bath, uncles Benjamin and Robert Bath and aunt, Mary Evans.

He is survived by his brother John Umbauer, West Pittston, sister Charlotte Umbauer, West Pittston, and nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Dr. Kevin Mutso, and Elaine for their care of William and also Dr. James Noto. They want to extend their deepest gratitude to the entire staff at Highland Manor for their care, compassion and kindness and being Bill's second home.

We will miss our brother sorely. He was a friend and a father figure when we lost ours. Rest in peace brother.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date in the Pittston Cemetery.

Arrangements are by the Howell-Lussi Funeral Home Inc., 509 Wyoming Avenue, West Pittston.
