William John Velleco, 81, of Battle Creek, Michigan, joined his Lord Jesus on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at the MediLodge of Marshall after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born and raised in New Haven, Connecticut on September 18, 1942, the son of John Peter Velleco and Margaret Clara (Franco) Velleco.
Bill served in the United States Marine Corps where he received an honorable discharge. Bill worked for 21 years at R & L Carriers until his retirement in January of 2021.
Bill is survived by his wife, Veronica (Twigg) Velleco; four children, Margaret (Juan) Pesantes, John (Catherine) Velleco, Dale S. Denton, Joseph (Johanna) Denton; 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Tammy Denton; grandson, Aaron Denton; and great grandson, Luca Velleco.
Bill was a true patriot who was proud to show that he loved his country. He also loved sports and his faithful pet companion, Bruno.
Visitation will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service on Saturday, June 1, 2024 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm, with a memorial service to celebrate his life following at 5:00 pm.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Foundation, Tunnel to Towers or the American Cancer Society in honor of Bill.
