William Spencer Vought, Sr.
"Ricky"
April 5, 1958 – October 22, 2025
"I've Been Changed, Healed, Freed, and Delivered"

William Spencer Vought, Sr., born on April 5, 1958, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was affectionately known as "Ricky." He was the youngest child born to William Spencer Vought and Laura Dell Johnson. While they reared him during his foundational years, they later allowed him to join his siblings who worked during the summer months on their aunt's farm in Madison, Florida. They also desired for him to develop a work ethic and to be raised by his oldest sister, Bobbi Jean Edwards.

Earlier in his life, Ricky made a personal confession of his belief in Jesus Christ as his Savior. Under the pastoral leadership of the Reverend Alonzo Fudge, he was baptized by faith and became an active member of St. James Missionary Baptist Church.

Ricky was outgoing with a charismatic personality; he believed in (reasonably) living life on his own terms. Because of his great self-esteem, he was mindful of his appearance and regarded himself as a "sharp" dresser. He loved being sporty, impressive, and appreciated by the young ladies because he was regarded as "the lady's man." His encouragement was listening to R&B music, especially that of Maze, featuring Frankie Beverly.

Years after his graduation from Madison High School in 1976, Ricky relocated to Philadelphia where he was employed as a security guard. With his heart for his family and because most of them reside in Madison, he returned to the area to live near them. On Wednesday, October 22, 2025, the Lord mercifully summoned William Spencer Vought, Sr. home. He joyfully departed this life to meet his Savior who promised rest and sweet relief.

God allowed a leaf to fall from the William Spencer Vought, Sr. family tree. Those who will honor his memory and carry on his legacy until they meet again are his oldest child: Latonya (Raleigh) Barfield of Valdosta, GA; sons: Mario Vought, Maurice Vought, William Vought III, Brian Vought, Brandon Vought, and Maurice Bennett, all of Madison, FL and Jabari McFadden of Laurel, MS; daughters: Brittany Keosha Vought and Brittany Swilley, both of Madison, FL; twenty-six grandchildren and one great-grandchild; sister: Evelyn Johnson of Douglasville, GA; best friend: Steve Gallon of Madison, FL; together with a host of sorrowing nieces, loving nephews, comforting cousins, and caring friends.

Loved ones who preceded William Spencer Vought, Sr. in death were his parents: William Spencer Vought and Laura Dell Johnson; brothers: Joseph Johnson and Douglas Johnson; sisters: Bobbi Jean Edwards and Shelly Johnson; and best friend: Stanley George "Horse" Simmons.
