William Wakefield, 64, husband of Angela Wakefield, died Friday, December 12, 2025.
Born in Greenville, SC, he was the son of the late Charles "Worry" Wakefield and Doris Ann Hunter Wakefield.
William Scott was a lifelong member of Truth Missionary Baptist Church, where he also served as a Sunday School Teacher and a deacon. He enjoyed sharing his faith with and inspiring others through worship and service.
William worked for Greenville Recreation Department and was dedicated to the maintenance and landscaping of the Swamp Rabbit Trail. In his spare time, he loved watching and playing sports, especially Gamecock athletics and spending time at Philpot's Feed and Seed, where he developed relationships and friendships that he treasured.
William is survived by his wife, Angela Wakefield; three sons, William Scott Wakefield, Jr., Jeremy P. Wakefield, and S. Lyle Wakefield; daughters-in-law, Adrienne, Miranda, and Jennifer Wakefield; granddaughter, Kara Wakefield; grandson, Davis Wakefield; sister-in-law, Darlene Wakefield; father and mother-in-law, Sammy and Ann Kay, Sr.; brother-in-law, Reverend Sammy Kay, Jr., and family; brother and sister-in-law, Danny and Allilian Trull; and brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Samantha Wilson.
In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his brother, Steve Wakefield.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 16, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. The funeral service will be Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Truth Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Truth Missionary Baptist Church, 200 Saluda Dam Rd., Greenville, SC 29611.
