Pawtucket – William S. Walas, 76, fought a good battle and passed away with loved ones by his side on Tuesday, March 19, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Sheila A. (Goff) Walas for fifty-six loving years. Born in Pawtucket, he was a son of the late Walter A. and Irene (Bozek) Walas.
Bill had served in the United States Army Reserve. He was a civil engineer for the City of Pawtucket for twenty-seven years until retiring in 2006, and was previously a heavy equipment operator in the construction industry, which he very much enjoyed.
Bill and Sheila had wintered in North Fort Myers, Florida from 2007 until 2017. He enjoyed spending time in his beloved garage and loved his 1941 Ford Panel Truck. He was a DJ known as "Graffiti Gold". Bill was an associate member of Bristol County Street Rod Association and served as their DJ for over fifty years which he immensely enjoyed. He also loved baking muffins in the morning for his beloved wife. Bill loved everyone and would do anything for them.
Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Michael William Walas; a daughter, Jennifer Lynn Marques and her husband, Jason; a granddaughter, Emily Lynn Marques, who was the apple of his eye; a sister-in-law, Joan M. Walas; his rescue Labrador Retriever and best friend Holly, all of Pawtucket and countless friends. He was the brother of the late Walter "Wally" L. Walas.
His funeral will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 11 a.m. from WILLIAM W. TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 p.m. at St. Teresa Church, 358 Newport Ave., Pawtucket. Interment will be private. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Flowers are welcome or memorial gifts to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Shriners Children's Hospital, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA 02114 would be appreciated.
