William Ward, Jr. Obituary

- Mr. William Glenn Ward Jr., 92, of Oxford, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, September 20th, 2022. A memorial will be held in his honor at a later date. Mr. Ward is survived by his wife of 64 years, Claudette Ward; daughters, Rochelle Ward and Gayla Hardegree (Eddie); granddaughters, Leah Hardegree and Diona Martin (Chris); two great-granddaughters, Savannah Martin and Macey Martin; nephew Steve Raegan; niece Kristy Mason (Mark); and special cats, Sam and Sparkle. He is preceded in death by his parents, William G. and Boyce Ward; and sister, Gloria Reagan. Mr. Ward was born in Atalla on August 8, 1930. He was a graduate of JSU and served in the United States Military. He was a founder of Talladega International Motor Speedway where he won two races in the late 60s. He worked most of his life as an insurance agent for Statefarm. Mr. Ward was a generous, fun-loving, father who loved to laugh. He loved animals and fed every stray he ran across. He enjoyed spending his free time playing golf at Pine Hill and watching NASCAR races. He loved traveling and sharing meals with his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to Word Alive, 122 Allendale Road, Oxford, AL 36203; or to the Calhoun County Humane Society, 1201 Parkwood Drive, Anniston, AL 36201. The Ward family respectfully requests no visitors or food delivery at this time. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.klbrownmemorychapel.com.

Rochelle,
I am so very sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers will be with you and your family. Your father was a great man and he is now at peace and in no pain. It is so difficult, but we have faith. God Bless you all!!
